Great idea! Sounds like a plan! But where are they now?Alfa Romeo BAT 11
This was powered by a 4.2 litre V8 engine. One freaky feature, aside from the massive rear wings, were the aerodynamic front wheel covers. These move during low speed corners to allow for full steering lock. The 21 inch turbine styled wheels featured carbon fibre spokes!
Audi Rosemeyer
The Rosemeyer was powered by a massive 8.0 litre W16 mid engine. The concept is not a prototype ready to be driven, nor was it created to be made! A window at the rear of the Rosemeyer’s cockpit provides a clear view of this car’s powerful engine.
Cadillac Cien
The carbon fibre body panels hide a monstrous mid-mounted 7.5 litre V12 engine. The Cien is equipped with Lambo scissor style doors! Interior toys include Night Vision, OnStar navigation, and Ultrasonic Rear Parking Assist, all controlled by voice activation!
Chevrolet Corvette CERV III
Powering the Chev was a mid-mounted, twin-turbocharged, 5.7 litre V8 which developed 650 horsepower! Inside were state of the art electronics including CRT screens in the dash, computer controlled active suspension, ABS brakes and traction control.
Citroen Osee
The Osee featured a mid-mounted 3.0 litre V6 engine. Due to the location of the engine it had poor rear visibility. Therefore it used a rear facing video camera and dash mounted tv screen. It also featured ride height adjustable suspension, which can be used while in motion!
Lamborghini Cala
The Cala was revealed in 1995, and considering the car’s age it still looks extremely cool! The Cala was powered by a 3.9 litre V10 which was mounted in the middle of the car. This Lambo was a fully functioning prototype in a carbon fibre body set over an aluminium chassis.
Mercedes Benz C112
This had a supercar styled body, gull-wing doors, and a mid 6.0 litre V12 engine producing 408 horsepower. Top speed 310 km/h! Gadgets included tyre-pressure monitors and radar cruise control, and an electrically adjustable rear wing for stability!
Seat Cupra GT
Powering the Seat was a 3.0 litre twin-turbo V6 with over 500 horsepower! GT racing design include the large black spoiler to keep the rear wheels planted, the rear diffuser and wheels held on by a central single nut! Access to the GT is provided by gull wing doors.
Shelby GR-1
This concept looks fast when standing still. The GR-1 shares some components with the Ford GT, among them suspension and the 6 speed transmission. 600 horsepower comes from the 6.4 litre V-10 giving the GR-1 a top speed in excess of 320 km/h!
Zagato Raptor
The Raptor was based around a tubular box-section chassis, powered by a Lamborghini V12 driving all four wheels. Access to the interior was through an upward-lifting windscreen, roof section and doors. 50 Zagato Raptor’s were ordered but were never made!
