Practical or insane? Genius or joke? You decide!BMW Lovos
The Lovos (Lifestyle of Voluntary Simplicity) is a freaky solar-powered car from hell, and one of those concept cars that looks as amazing as it is probably useless - and dangerous! It can transform into a porcupine or a salmon, depending on its needs. The exterior consists of 260 interchangeable particles contained in the hinges on the overall structure! These individual parts are mobile and can be closed, like fish scales, or open. All of the scales are replaceable and turn constantly to align with the sun. The scales operate as an air brake, and gather energy through solar cells located on them. 12 scales, closing each wheel are also functional. As soon as the car begins to move, they change their position, moving into the wheel, creating a mad collection of turbines! Just imagine those metal scales slicing through a pedestrian’s body! Kind of a dangerous design flaw if you ask us!
Volkswagen Rocca
The Volkswagen Rocca is another hallucination from a designer which will never come to life! But its unique mix of metal with wood has really caught our eye. This VW concept has a wooden hood and a wooden roof that kinda blends with the metal bodywork of the car so it actually looks more classy than weird. But the long drawn out design makes it look like a bizarre boat on wheels or a stretch limo for Pinocchio! The car’s extended design is apparently to protect the engine in case of a collision. The luggage space is actually in front of the engine ensuring that the engine sticks in the middle safely. So what happens in a rear end crash? You lose your life, that simple! Some may like the design for its sick imagination, while others will laugh at such a wacky ride!
Mercedes F-Cell Roadster
This conceptual roadster is a throw back to really old skool vehicles, although the engine is far from retro. It is controlled by drive-by-wire technology and the driver uses a joystick rather than a conventional steering wheel! The centerpiece is the roadster’s fuel cell powertrain, which has a power rating of 1.2 kilowatts, a top speed of 25 km/h, and a range of 350 kilometres. That means you’ll have a long, boring, slow trip, just like your great, great grandparents did back at the turn of the century. Hooray! Not! It manages to blend the original Benz motor car with seating and a fiberglass front section both taken from the world of Formula One racing! But what use is an F1 body with a cool engine when you’re stuck with large crappy spoke wheels???
