Opel Rocks E-xtreme

Mini But Monstrous!

Back in 2021, Opel launched their Rocks-E model, a micro electric vehicle for the city. A year later, they introduced a cargo version, and now, there is another, albeit none production model. Meet the Rocks E-Xtreme, an entry-level electric vehicle designed for urban mobility that can be driven by 15-year-olds!
The so-called E-Xtreme is a one-off prototype, which may or may not go into production. This wild looking thing was created by Opel based on the sketches of design student Lukas Wenzhofer, who won their #OpelDesignHack contest! Based on their promise, the German automaker made the radical electric buggy a reality!

Based on the Citroen Ami platform, Wenzhofer envisions the Rocks-E as an extreme version all-terrain fun vehicle that turns the volume all the way up!

Compared to the regular quadricycle, the Xtreme features a wider stance with monster wheel arches, an exo-skeleton external cage, and protruding grippy tyres! As such the suspension has been overhauled to accommodate more ground clearance. Despite the use of chunky flares, you can’t cover the wider tracks, giving this Rocks a cartoonish but cool look!

The entire front panel including mudguards has been produced with 3D printing, with additional LED lighting mounted on the roof frame, and new taillights. But the sickest feature has to be the booming wing at the back, borrowed from the Vectra GTS V8!

Get up and go comes from a single electric motor generating 8 horsepower (6 kW) with a 75 km range and top speed of 45 km/h. Fully charged in 3.5 hours via a standard household socket, the charging cable is permanently housed within the car – with public charging done via an adapter!
Although just a concept, it will embark on a tour so more fans can check it out in person. So if it does gather enough traction to make production, it will be available to order first in Germany – and Australia down the road!
