Citroen Ami Buggy

Door-free & beach-ready!

Citroen has just unveiled the re-packaged Ami Buggy – a beach-going version of their urban EV designed for open-air cruising and limitless fun!
The Ami Buggy is inspired by the concept version from the 2024 Paris Auto Show, although some features like the grippy tyres, the Khaki shade and the LED bar got lost on the way to production!
Luckily, this EV inherits the redesigned front and rear ends of the original with round lightning units and decorative 2CV-style side gills. The Buggy version also adds some more personality with its gold 14 inch steel wheels and an almost comical matte black rear spoiler!

Despite its rugged appearance though, this Ami isn’t going to out-slay a Jeep Wrangler or Ford Bronco when it comes to off-road performance!
The highlight here is the absence of standard doors – replaced by black metal hoops mounted on hinges. The Wrangler-like setup comes with zipped door covers and a retractable sunroof come rain time. Such a doorless design may trigger some, but it transforms the car into something that feels truly adventurous!
For those wanting style overload, there’s the flagship trim known as Ami Buggy Palmeira. This adds black and yellow decals on the wheel arches, matching the yellow double-chevron emblems!
Yellow accents continue inside the cabin, including the three storage boxes, floor mats, and a smartphone holder. As a sweet bonus, buyers of the Palmeira also get ‘Andy’, a small robot figurine mounted on the dashboard that bobs along as you cruise!

The Citroen Ami Buggy doesn’t get any performance upgrades over the standard Ami. Effectively a heavy quadricycle, it has a top speed of 45 km/h thanks to a single 8 horsepower electric motor. The 5.5 kWh battery pack offers a 75 km range, and can charge in 4 hours from a standard 220V socket!
A rocket it will never be, but it does deliver straight up uncomplicated fun. Still ultra compact at 2.4 metres and fully electric, the Ami Buggy builds on what’s made the original a micro legend in just half a decade!

Pricing for the adventurous Ami Buggy start at U.S.$10,900 and U.S.$11,400 for the Palmeira trim. First deliveries are expected to begin in August 2025 – a definitive upgrade from a mobility scooter!
