SpongeBob SquarePants: Titans of the Tide

The latest 3D SpongeBob platformer has a story that drives the adventure in a different direction to what we’ve seen from this hilarious underwater series before. There’s been a fight between King Neptune and the Flying Dutchman, which has unleashed a ghostly chaos in Bikini Bottom.

It’s up to SpongeBob and Patrick to restore order by shifting between ghost and mortal forms, to solve puzzles, beat bosses and collect everything in sight. Despite two characters, it’s strictly a single-player experience, with seamlessly shifting between the duo supplying plenty of strategy.

The characters have different abilities in both forms, which tie into combat, sidequests and puzzle-solving. The abilities match the forms, too – for example in ghost form you can drift through walls and possess objects. While in mortal form Patrick can grapple and burrow, while SpongeBob uses bubble attacks and ghostly glides. We also like how some of the iconic locations are given a haunted twist. The story is voiced by the real actors and full of the series’ signature humour, which combined with the colourful visuals is sure to delight fans.

Platform: Switch 2, PS5, XSX, PC
