Ariel Atom 4RR

Yes it’s street legal!

The British company Atom has spent the last 25 years leaving auto makers scratching their heads with their open-wheel, no doors, no roof approach to supercar building!

Now, the Ariel engineers have built the most extreme machine in their history. The new Ariel Atom 4RR is more powerful than a BMW M3, weighs less than a Mazda Miata, and redefines what supercar performance could be!

Power comes from a turbocharged, 2.0 litre four cylinder engine sourced under the hood of the Civic Type R. Every component has been replaced, upgraded, or re-engineered – with track use in mind!

The brand fitted forged pistons, model-specific cams, and a beefier cylinder head and valve springs. There’s also a full race-spec titanium exhaust system!

The engine takes 100 hours to build by hand, spins out 8200 rpm, and develops 525 horsepower and 406 pound-feet of torque at its most powerful! Two lesser calibrations are available (400 and 500 horsepower) selectable from the cockpit – perfect for beginners!

Power reaches the rear wheels via a six speed sequential transmission linked to pneumatic shift paddles. Select the most powerful map, and the 4RR reaches 100 km/h in 2.4 seconds! That’s on par with the 1000 horsepower, V12 electric Lamborghini Revuelto – exotic company!

The 4RR weighs just 670 kg, achieved with a carbon fibre body, composite race seats, and very few comfort features inside. The cockpit does feature a scrollable motorsport display covering everything from lap timing to delta metrics!

Braking comes from 310mm AP Racing ventilated discs front and rear, while the ABS has 11 stages of adjustment and an ‘off’ position that can be selected while driving!

Buyers can spec their car directly with the engineers, with options like a motorsport roll cage and onboard air jacks available for those who really want to go race mode!

Pricing starts at the supercar price of $400,000, not surprising given the performance figures and limited numbers. Already a game changer, the 4RR is likely to turn a lot more heads than the usual supercar suspects from Germany and Italy!
