Fast & Furious: Arcade Edition

The biggest car movie series of them all was always going to make for a great video game. In a wise decision by the developer, Fast & Furious: Arcade Edition doesn’t get bogged down in story, and instead focuses on easy to handle racing and cool car customisation.

The tracks are high on cinematic moments, from destructible environments, to stunts, shortcuts, explosions, nitro boost and drifting. All in iconic cars like the Dodge Charger, Ford GT, Nissan GT-R and Corvette Z06, which can be customised, of course. Don’t expect it to feel too realistic though, that’s not the point. It’s about spectacular racing, even if the cars do still feel different to drive.

Maximising speed boosts is a big part of the gameplay, which involves drifting to build up your nitro meter. And it’s not all straight racing, with some stages having objectives like escaping from a helicopter or outrunning a collapsing tunnel to add to the fun. Thankfully, it does have a 2-player splitscreen mode, too.

Platform: Switch, PC, XSX, PS5
