Once Upon a Katamari

One of the most bizarre series in history is Katamari. It’s a strange Japanese experience that’s all about rolling a ball around that picks up whatever it rolls over and gradually gets bigger.

The larger you get, the bigger the item you can roll over – even buildings! If you get to a certain size in the required time limit, you fulfil your quest and progress, with pick-ups scattered about to help you on your way.

It’s a surprisingly addictive experience, and this latest entry offers some key new features. First off, there is the era-spanning, time-jumping story. The King of All Cosmos has accidentally destroyed the stars… again… by unravelling a magic scroll.

The Prince and his cousins must roll through history (from the Jurassic era onwards) to restore the cosmos. Plus, online multiplayer has been added with competitive and co-op modes.

There are over 70 customisable cousins to control, and new pick-ups like magnets, bounce pads and slow-motion, add more strategy. Quirky and weird, yes, but still fun!
