Will this be the best RPG game of the year? Kingdom Hearts is notorious for delays, but the developer has recently come out and confirmed that a 2026 release is on target. Kingdom Hearts IV will be the first game in a new story arc called The Lost Master, and will have a darker, more grounded setting. Indeed, Sora’s tale begins in a realistic city environment, before expanding into world inspired by Disney’s properties. These will be worlds we haven’t seen before in the series, too. Donald and Goofy have been confirmed as returning, and we know it’s being developed in Unreal Engine 5, so it’s sure to look amazing. We also know that reaction commands, which were a hit in Kingdom Hearts II but were dropped for the third instalment, are making a return.
