Sony Pulse 3D Headset
We’ve finally got our hands on the official PS5 headset from Sony, called the Pulse 3D. The name refers to its ability to utilise the 3D Audio technology of the console to better deliver a surround sound experience. It works well, although it’s also dependent on the game developer doing their sound properly. The sound range and volume on this wireless headset is fantastic and it’s very comfortable to wear. The battery doesn’t last awfully long, but it’s easy to charge. The mic can also pick up a bit too much background noise, but it’s easy to disconnect and we like the range of controls on the ear cup, too.

HTC Vive Pro 2
We love VR gaming and the HTC Vive has always offered the best experience. This month a second generation of this headset has come out that makes the experience even better again. It’s similar in look and is just as comfortable, but the screen quality has greatly increased. The resolution of each a screen now adds up to 5K, and the field of view has increased to 120-degrees. It also has a fantastic 120Hz refresh rate. On the downside, it uses the old controllers, it’s still tethered to your PC – so it’s not wireless – and there’s no tracking on the headset (you’ll need a base station). But if you want the very best in VR, you can’t get any better.

RIG 500 Pro Headphones
The new consoles offer some fantastic audio experiences, which demand great headphones. The RIG 500 Pro (which comes in Xbox and PlayStation versions, with both also working on PC) is a tournament grade headset. It’s wired to ensure there’s no latency between the action and the audio. It’s got a great, crystal clear, noise cancelling mic that is easily moved and detached. Plus, the 50mm drivers pump out some serious sound in Dolby Atmos or 3D Audio. Add a light, near unbreakable construction and a super comfy, adjustable headband that allows it to work on smaller heads, and you have a lot of great sound for a good price.
