World Heavyweight Champion Roman Reigns def. Jacob Fatu
We were wowed watching these two members of the legendary ‘bloodline’ Samoan wrestling dynasty face off. We were cheering when Reigns exposed a turnbuckle to break the Tongan Death Grip and hit a final Spear. And we were cringing when a furious Fatu smashed the referee and laid out Reigns after the match.
Bron Breakker def. Seth Rollins
Things went Breakker’s way right from the start when he countered Rollins’ Falcon Arrow with his own. The deal was sealed via pinfall after a devastating Spear following outside interference.
United States Champion Trick Williams def. Sami Zayn
After a crazy ‘Gingerbread Man’ mascot trick on SmackDown where Zayn blindsided the champion, this rematch at Backlash was made set to settle the personal feud. When push came to shove, Trick dodged Zayn’s Helluva Kick and hit the ‘Trick Shot’ to secure the victory. Mind you, he had some help with heavy ringside involvement from rapper Lil Yachty.
IYO SKY def. Asuka
The Women’s showed how strong it is with this highly technical match, filled with hard-hitting strikes, countermoves and near-pins. It was a nail-biter when Asuka tried to surprise SKY with her signature green mist but Sky soon blocked the attempt and rolled Asuka up for a three-count.
Danhausen & Minihausen def. The Miz & Kit Wilson
This match had us laughing out loud, especially when the Miz accidentally blinded himself with a fire extinguisher, allowing Danhausen to pick up the win.
John Cena announced the John Cena Classic
Just when we thought John Cena’s ‘You can’t see me!’ Cry was set to become all to real, he made a special appearance to host the event and announced the upcoming ‘John Cena Classic’ tournament.
