Ever wished your favourite Avengers got zapped straight into an anime 2D tag-fighter? That’s basically Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls, which is made by the Dragon Ball FighterZ team. Iron Man, Wolverine, Magneto and a 20-strong cast of heroes and villains get a new anime makeover in a brand-new Marvel universe. Episode Mode delivers a 10-hour interactive motion-comic experience that blends narrative cutscenes with playable battles. It’s super cool – Earth’s heroes and villains divide into five teams to fight each other for the right to face and defeat the planet-threatening Champion of the Universe. Each fight sees you build a squad of four fighters, but here’s the twist: your team shares one life bar, and you unlock your squad of fighters through the match by completing goals, so every fight keeps reshaping itself. The controls and 2D feel remind us of genre classics like Street Fighter, but there’s also a one-button special for anyone still learning button combos. We love how fast it plays and the visual style looks amazing. Plus, there’s local and online multiplayer.
Format: PS5, PC
