Audi’s new supercar!
Audi swore the R8 was finished, and they were right. Rather than resurrect the R8 badge, they created a new model with a historical reference. Called the Nuvolari, it’s named after Tazio Nuvolari, the Italian who won many grand prix back in the 1930s.
Revealed before the Monaco Grand Prix, it’s going into production soon and will be the most powerful production car the four rings company has ever built!

The Nuvolari happily borrows the mid-mounted 4.0 litre twin-turbo V8 from the Lamborghini Temerario. Since Audi owns Lambo, it’s not really stealing. Every R8 model in the past borrowed from much Lambo hardware, including the Gallardo and the Huracan!
Paired with three axial-flux electric motors, the hybrid setup here throws down a sick 987 horsepower, out-powering the Lambo it borrows from! The V8 alone hits a 10,000 rpm redline, while the whole package hits 100 km/h in 2.6 seconds before topping out at 349 km/h!
With a capacity of 7.3 kWh, the battery has twice the energy of the Temerario’s 3.8 kWh and is capable of pure electric driving over short distances.

While the spec sheet reads like a Lamborghini, the bodywork doesn’t. All surfaces and squared-off edges are wrapped in Audi’s new signature Titanium paint, and the body is almost entirely carbon fibre reinforced polymer, baked using F1 autoclave methods.
But the F1 connection doesn’t end there. There’s an F1-like drag reduction system (DRS) that the driver can deploy at the touch of a button on the steering wheel for major boost! Of course, there is active aerodynamics onboard with three stages of performance, including an adaptive rear wing for when the real fun begins!
Audi hasn’t revealed their pricing, but suggestions are it will be roughly $1 million Aussie dollars. All 499 examples will be delivered in early 2027, which means come next year, Audi will return to its former self – and reclaim superstar status!
