Grayson Waller

We can’t get enough of Australia’s own smart-mouthed 21st-century success story. Can you?

Krash: How’s your success story going?
Grayson: Well, I used to have matches in front of 10 people at a Sunday market or 15 people at a brewery. Now I’m getting an opportunity with WWE that has put me on a global scale. Being here for Crown Jewel is amazing. You walk around a shopping centre in Perth and everyone’s wearing a wrestling shirt and feeling the vibe. So, this is a cool opportunity.

Krash: How did you get your start with WWE?
Grayson: I got very lucky that they were in town for a show and I was wrestling in Sydney and we had the scouts come to the show. They saw me and I’m an undeniable talent. And I’m very good-looking and very good in the ring. So, they signed me up pretty much on the spot, which is almost unheard of. Usually there are try-outs. But I got very lucky and the right people saw me on the right day.

Krash: Are you on track for glory?
Grayson: When you get to WWE there are two types of people. There are people who put ‘I’m in the WWE’ in their Instagram bio and be like ‘I’m a WWE Superstar’ and not do anything and be happy to sit back and watch other people do it. And then there’s the guys who want everything and I think they’re the guys who kind of take over and with the roster we have right now you have to be hungry.

Krash: How do you think the Aussies are going in WWE?
Grayson: I’ve always said the best wrestlers in the world are Australian but we’re so far away we’ve never had the eyes on us before. So, I’m very proud that we’ve got me, Bronson and Rhea. We’re not just performing for ourselves. We’re trying to keep that door open, so we get more Aussies in because I know the talent that’s down here and we want to show off that we’re better than anyone else in the world.

Krash: And now you’re teaming up with The New Day…?
Grayson: These are two legends of the game. Hands down, they’ve won the most championships so you can’t disagree with that. Unfortunately, you have veterans like CM Punk and Cody Rhodes who pretend to be nice guys online. But they don’t want to help any new guys, they just want to keep their spot. But The New Day, they saw I have potential and took me under their wing and they’re two guys who are willing to do whatever it takes as we’ve seen with that guy… can’t remember his name… Big G’s here now!
